An event as part of the Werkleitz Festival 2023 My Precious
The anthology Wovon man spricht, das hat man nicht [What you talk about, you don't have] was edited by the Literaturhaus Halle and published by Mitteldeutscher Verlag in 2022. Eight renowned contemporary German-language authors embark on a search for traces. What remains of Novalis, who was born 250 years ago in Wiederstedt? Where does his unwavering modernity lie? The results of this research are texts as disparate as the authors themselves. Essayistic approaches, fictional narratives and attempts to translate Novalis’ œuvre into contemporary worlds illuminate the poet’s “cosmos” in many different directions. The paths lead from Novalis to climate issues, Krautrock and the Ukraine war, but also back to him, to the myth of the “Blaue Blume” [Blue Flower].
